Honorary Board Member · Floor Care Division
Welcome to
Zammyland.
Every rink has a legend. Ours has a steering wheel, a squeegee, and a long, complicated history with the boards.
Live footage. (Not really. But it looks exactly like this.)
The origin story
Ice gets a Zamboni.
We got Zammy.
Zammy is HIHA's ride-on Tennant floor scrubber. When the games wrap up, he rolls out, scrubs the tiles, squeegees up the mess, and leaves the floor ready for the next faceoff. He works every game day, never asks for a snack, and has perfect attendance at board meetings. (He's usually already at the boards.)
This season the board made it official: anyone who hits the boards that often deserves a seat on one. Zammy is HIHA's first honorary board member. He also answers questions on this website, so if you've chatted with the helper in the corner, you've already met.

Help Zammy help you
Clear the rink when he rolls out
Players off, pucks and sticks up. Zammy has the right of way, and he knows it.
Keep the tiles clean
Lids on drinks, snacks off the floor, tape balls in the trash. Sticky spills are his nemesis.
Wet tiles? Say something.
If the floor looks slick, tell a coach or board member before anyone skates. The tile check at the top of every page is a good first look.
Wave from the bench
He can't wave back. No arms. He appreciates it anyway.
