Why inline

Real hockey.
No ice required.

Skill, speed, strategy, and the desire to play as part of a team. Whether you're here to play casually in the rec league or compete with a traveling team, HIHA is where Hendersonville learns to love hockey.

Fast to learn

Never skated? Neither had most of our players. Coaches and a practice-first environment get kids skating and stick-handling quicker than you'd believe. Many joined having never picked up a stick.

Every level plays

A casual recreational league and competitive traveling teams under one roof. Boys and girls, ages 8U through high school. Plus a full adult league and weekly pick-up runs.

Year-round in TN

Spring and fall seasons at Volunteer Park at Arrowhead, with community pick-up games in between. Outdoor hockey, Tennessee weather. The good kind of grind.

HIHA equipment guide

For parents & new families

New to hockey?
Start here.

No experience needed. Really. Maybe you heard about the sport from a friend or a neighbor. Maybe you've seen the games at Volunteer Park at Arrowhead. Every year more brand-new kids join, and our coaches build the season around learning fast and loving the game.

HIHA runs on team play, individual character, and competitive opportunity. We're a 501(c)(3) built to grow hockey in Hendersonville, and the life lessons (teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance) come free with the sweat.

Schedules and rink updates live here on the HIHA website, and the league calendar can sync to your phone automatically. Coaches share team-specific updates by email or text. Want the full playbook? See the newcomer's guide.

The sideline code

  1. These are children.
  2. This is just a game.
  3. The referees are human.
  4. Coaches are volunteers.
  5. If you say anything negative, everyone can hear you.
My kid has never skated. Is that OK?

Absolutely. It's the norm, not the exception. Many of our players had never picked up a stick before joining. Coaches and the practice environment are built to get new players skating and stick-handling quickly.

How are age divisions decided?

By your player's age on December 31. Fall seasons use the upcoming December 31; spring seasons use the previous one. Current divisions run Termites, 8U, 11U, 14U, and 18U, plus the adult league.

What do we need for the first practice?

The required-gear list: HECC helmet with full cage, skates (brakes removed), stick, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, protector, and a non-clear mouth guard. HIHA provides youth jerseys. See the full list in Gear Up.

Where are the rinks?

At Volunteer Park at Arrowhead in Hendersonville, TN, serving families across greater Nashville.

How do I stay on top of schedules?

Use the calendar on this site or subscribe to it from your phone for automatic schedule changes. Coaches send team-specific updates by email or text.

Can adults play too?

Yes. A full adult league plus Wednesday-night pick-up at 7:30 PM. It's never too late to lace up.
